State Minister Hildegarde Naughton TD said: "The Galway to Dublin Greenway is a 330-kilometer car-free corridor between Galway and Dublin, connecting the Atlantic coast and the east coast. The funding announced today is particularly exciting. Meath, Kildare Counties such as, Westmeath, Offaly, etc. will benefit from the investment in the project. Once completed, the Dublin-Galway project will provide local and national amenities for the community and tourists. It will also support local businesses such as cafes, shops, BBs, campsites and hotels.

"As a minister in Western Ireland, I am also very happy to see Connemara Greenway receive a strong funding of more than 3 million euros in 2022. This funding includes from Clifden to Recess (1.9 million euros), Gore Wei's route to Moycullen (600,000 euros) and Derrygimlagh-Clifden-Kylemore (550,000 euros). I am very looking forward to riding this route, some of which will be completed in the second half of next year."
